Aggregates

Traditionally aggregates were produced by crushing rock to a nominated or specific size but they can now be produced from other materials.
Aggregates are used in many areas of construction but are primarily used in concrete, asphalt and for drainage.

Typical Applications

  • Concrete
  • Asphalt / sealing materials
  • Drainage materials
  • Backfill
  • Landscape/decorative

    Decorative Pebbles

Carpet your garden in a variety of textures and colours from our range of decorative gravels and pebbles. As well as looking great, a gravel covering will benefit in a similar way to mulches, without the hassle of topping up. Here are some handy tips to getting a professional result.

  • Make sure the ground underneath is as level as possible, and firm for an even finish.
  • Its always a good idea to lay mulch mat to stop the weeds breaking through.
  • When laying gravel or pebbles around plants make sure the area around the stems is kept clear to avoid fungal problems.

    Mulches

Mulch is one of the most valuable ingredients in the garden. Some of the key benefits of mulch are:

  • Saves water
  • Stops weeds
  • Saves time
  • Keeps soil cool
  • Reduces plant stress
  • Helps build soil microbe population
  • Adds organic matter to the soil
  • Helps retain fertiliser in the soil

When mulching, it is always beneficial to fertilise first, using organic fertilisers such as Dynamic Lifter, or inorganic fertilisers such as Osmocote. Mulch mat can then be laid to assist in weed suppression.
Ideally mulch should be laid to a depth of 50-100mm. Keep mulches well away from plant stems or trunks, to prevent infection from fungal diseases.

    Soil

    Soil mixes
It is always recommended that premium soil mixes be used in the garden. Cheaper soil mixes can often contain filling ingredients such as sawdust, which provide no nutrients or structure to the garden.
